HASSENBROOK AWARDED HEALTHY SCHOOLS STATUS

Hassenbrook School has achieved National Healthy School status this week after meeting criteria set out in the National Healthy Schools Programme (NHSP). The aim of the programme is to deliver real benefits for children and young people within school and to support them in developing healthy behaviours.

The impact of the programme is based on a whole-school approach to physical and emotional well-being focused on four core themes which include Personal, Social & Health Education, Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and Emotional Health & Wellbeing. It has been implemented at Hassenbrook by Lee Jones our Healthy Schools co-ordinator and Linda Brett Learning Mentor at the school.

Headteacher Mr Richard Glasby and Head Girl Kayley Jonas received the award at The Park Inn, North Stifford along with representatives from other schools in the borough at an event hosted by NHSP.

Mr Glasby said, ‘This initiative has been proved to support links between health, behaviour and achievement and if it aids us to keep students both healthy and happy and improves their work ethic then this is something we welcome at Hassenbrook.’
