Sam Speaks Volumes

Following a request from our Library Manager, Mrs Lyn Brockwell, popular children’s author Sam Enthoven, creator of The Black Tattoo and TIM: Defender of the Earth visited Hassenbrook School this week. Year 7 and 8 students took part in three question and answer sessions which were held throughout the school day and a book signing session which took place in the library at lunchtime.  Students were given the chance to purchase signed copies of Sam's books and to chat to the author on a one-to-one basis.

The author talked about his new book due for release in 2010 and students had the opportunity to discuss possible titles for the new publication with Sam. The day proved very inspiring for students and staff alike.

Sam Enthoven said after the event, ‘I thought it was a great day: the students were wonderfully attentive and their questions were excellent. I hope everyone else enjoyed it, because I certainly did! When the new book's out I hope you'll think of having me back. I'd love to visit Hassenbrook again sometime.’

The author signed a copy of his book Black Tattoo for Hassenbrook’s first Accelerated Reader millionaire. Sam is pictured with a Year 9 student who has managed to read 1,000,000 words since the beginning of the school year in September.

Special thanks goes to Mrs Brockwell, who organised this event on behalf of the school.
